Collection: Long-Range Readers for Gates & Parking
A long-range reader identifies a vehicle or driver from several feet to several yards away, so the gate opens without anyone reaching out a window. Each reader works with its own family of tags and cards. Pick the reader and the tags together.

-
Nedap ANPR Lumo: a license plate camera that reads plates at 2 to 8 m, for sites that would rather not issue tags.
Before you buy
Check three things. First, the output: most of these send Wiegand, so confirm your gate controller accepts it. Second, the credential: AWID readers read AWID UHF tags, Nedap uPASS reads EPC Gen 2 tags, and TRANSIT reads TRANSIT tags. Third, mounting: plan for a pedestal or pole, and check the angle to the windshield.
FAQ
How far can a long-range reader read?
It depends on the reader, the tag and the install. On this page the rated ranges run from about 5 m for the HID U90 to 15 m for the Nedap TRANSIT Ultimate. Metallic window tint can cut range sharply.
Can drivers use the same card at the door?
With AWID, yes: the UA-612 and XR-3600 door readers read the same UHF cards. Nedap and HID offer combo cards that pair UHF with a door technology.
Do I need a separate controller?
These readers report to an access control panel or gate controller. Only the ANPR camera has built-in software for plate decisions.
For planning help, read gate access control systems.
