Ordering tips
Look at an existing card or fob for the part number. Then get the format, facility code and next unused card number from your software. Prox fobs are 125 kHz; iCLASS, Seos and MIFARE fobs are 13.56 MHz and need a reader that supports them. Most fobs are sold in packs of 100. Keri tags and the Kantech P40KEY come in 25s, and some ADI and Keyscan fobs in 50s.
FAQ
Do fobs read as far as cards?
Usually a little less, because the antenna is smaller. On a typical wall reader the difference is an inch or so, which rarely matters at a door.
Can I put my logo on a fob?
Not with a card printer. Some fobs can be ordered with a printed logo or number from the manufacturer; ask us before you order.
Can one person have a card and a fob?
Yes. Each credential has its own number, so enroll both under the same cardholder in your software.
See access control card formats explained to confirm your format, or proximity cards vs smart cards if you are choosing between prox and smart fobs.
